Team Expectations

  • Players will need to be committed to the team, and plan to attend all regularly scheduled practices and games.  (Practice times are Monday 7AM, Wed 3:30 - 5:00, Thur 5:00 - 6:30 ----- Shooting practices are optional and are Monday 3:30 - 5:00, Fri 7AM when we are not playing that weekend)
  • Players are expected to inform the coach in advance if they cannot make a practice or a tournament.  (Phone me at 567-4613 or email mcooper@ebus.sd91.bc.ca)
  • Players are expected to be positive and supportive of their teammates.
  • Players are expected to keep up their grades in class - student athletics is a privilege which is earned by effort on and off the court.
  • Players are representatives of their community and are expected to behave appropriately when travelling.
No players will attend every game or tournament.  Players who miss practices or fall behind in their schoolwork may miss games as a result.  If you have a previous obligation or are sick please let me know so that a spot can be made available for others.

We will be trying to get everyone plenty of playing opportunities.  Team rosters will be limited to 12 players maximum for games.  In some cases an additional 3 players may be invited, depending on the availability of space on our buses.  All players will attend the Williams Lake tournament to begin the season.

All players will need to pay a $350 fee for the season.  Players who do not make the payment will not be allowed to travel with the team.  (The fee for the Williams Lake trip is part of this total, not in addition to.)  If players engage in fund-raising, parents may be reimbursed in part or in whole - depending on the amount of fund-raising done by each player.

SNIGS will not travel until they have taken care of their obligations at the office.

Expectations while on the Bus

The Driver is at all times in complete charge of the bus and passengers.

Follow the Driver's instructions and ensure that the other passengers are following the Drivers instructions the first time they are given.
Assist the driver to ensure all passengers are following the bus safety rules.

The Driver is to. be treated with respect at all times.
The Driver will use their professional judgment when asked to take groups to certain locations whether  it is safe to maneuver  the bus or safe to drop off or pick up there. The Coach and Group will respect the Driver's decision.
Any concerns need to be discussed in private with the Driver.
The Driver needs to be given a call back time when dropping  a  group off.

Cell phones for communication should be used when a group has an unforeseen change in schedule and the driver can then be notified to come earlier or come later than what was arranged.
The Driver is there to provide a service to the group and transport them to various locations.  Consideration must be taken regarding the Drivers’ Hours of Duty, and the Driver should be released from  Duty whenever  possible. Use the service, but don't abuse it.
On trips that are a considerable distance from base and departure time is getting late the Driver will have the final decision as   to whether the bus will leave or not.  Road and weather conditions and how rested the Driver feels will be factors in that decision.
It may be necessary for the Driver to fuel on route.  Please ensure that everyone remains off the bus and safe distance away while the Driver is fueling as required by law.
On return home students may want to be dropped at a location other than the designated drop off point.  Make that arrangement with the driver in advance to decide on safe drop off areas.
At the end of a trip the coach needs to remain behind to check under and around seats for garbage and lost items.
